On A Night Like This...

No, this ain't the song title of a trashy Eurovision song, albeit if it was the Eurovision Song Contest Microsoft would of fairly finished with 'nil points' last night. Problems for me started on the night before the new 'Modern Warfare 2 - stimulus map pack' was due for its longly anticipated launch. However on 'Stimulus' launch day, so much so was the hype and interest that Microsoft (The mother of all computing companies) couldn't cope and Xbox Live disappeared into a chasm of chaos. There was no access to accounts, no access to downloadable content, and no important game updates. Which when trying to purchase a new map pack, I hope you'll all agree, are very important parts of the process. Lets not forget, that left approx 1.5 million users (that night) all paying roughly £40 subcription fees unable to access a service their paying for.
A friend of mine was left without MW2 for almost 2 and a half hours because he'd downloaded the map pack, but needing the update, that wouldn't update, he was left unable to even play the game at all.
Understandably, things even go wrong for the big companies aswell sometimes, but Microsoft had ample time to do their homework ahead of this popular launch. My apologies if I expect the Worlds most famous and biggest computer brand to have not coped better.
All that said, today, one day late, I do at last have my hands on the new map pack, and be sure I'll be back soon with my opinions.
Take care folks, and remember an Xbox is for life, not just for Easter! ;)
