HOMEFRONT nothing quite like Home

Another month, another wannabe shoot 'em up!
This time its Homefront courtesy of THQ, the people who brought you the arcade styled version of GTA. Saints Row was relatively poorer graphically, but had what I felt was greater immersing game play. Anyway, back to Homefront, a Battlefield Bad Company/Call of Duty clone, but does it really measure up to these top selling titles? Gather your arms my fellow citizens and I'll tell you more.
Homefront revolves around a story line that sees North Korea a mass their forces for Global domination, which on a timeline they achieve. Their forces efforts finally culminating in the capture of the U.S of A! The American troops are overwhelmed and the "red star forces" of Korea are finally faced only with pockets of hardcore rebels. This is where you come into it, you are a rebel taking up fight to free your country. The story if a little tongue in cheek, is believable and plays out really well. The graphics are well detailed and very COD like. The weapons and weapon interactions are controlled more like that of BFBC which isn't a bad thing, but as a lot of you know, BFBC is a lot more realistic and difficult than COD in this area.
The Homefront multiplayer is a where the whole thing fails for me. The maps aren't bad, but they are miles away from anything that even the first BFBC has already brought us. There is no building damage, vehicles are a shoddy and won't even topple down huge sheer cliff faces if you feel a bout of suicide coming on. The 32 player lobbies Homefront prides itself on are therefore left lacking in a big way. My final verdict on this title (and I bought!) is, leave well alone if you have COD or BFBC 2. I think the arrival of the new Modern Warfare or BFBC3 can't come soon enough.
Score 7/10 - Nothing to write home about!
