You want blood, guts and explosive destruction. Soldier!!?
There's no need to join the Army, its just a daily ordeal in the life of any Battlefield veteran or noob. Whilst this is not a bias, fan boy review, I do prefer the Battlefield franchise to that of the latest Call of Duty titles. That bias is not built on a dislike of individual story lines. It is based only on a wanting urge to blow the shit out of everything! Dice have done great things with their frostbite engines and just keep on breaking boundaries, there is no doubt about that. Well laid out, stunningly pleasing battle environments. Vehicular warfare bringing roaring through a dense forest in a T-90 tank, to speeding through urban streets on a quad bike. Mind blowing destruction from Two storey buildings to Skyscraper's crashing down in plumes of dust. An exciting variety of maps and game modes such as Large scale 64 player battles, smaller 32 player battles and modes such as Gun game.
The campaign story revolves around a Chinese attack which ultimately culminates in a naval assault on an American aircraft carrier called Valkyrie. This combines beautifully with Dice's normal offerings of an array of modern day weaponry and driveable vehicles.
At £15 preowned and £25 new, it is an Xbox One title you really should add to your collection. If you do upgrade to Premium then keep an eye on Deals with Gold on your box dashboard. You could get Premium for half price (£20).
Bearing in mind that this is an early 2014 title, Dice have stated that even with the release of Battlefield Hardline, they will still support BF4. And that they have, rolling out a Spring Update that tweaks a few things to improve the game further.
Hoo-rah! 8/10
