Flat footed FIFA 16.......

Football fan or not, we have all experienced some moment of pure deflation in life...

Your favourite football team being beaten in a local derby, getting knocked out of the FA Cup by lower league competition, or just that deflated feeling of general lacklustre effort....

Yes EA Sports!! I do mean you! Lacklustre, effortless, lazy, the list goes on and on. Consider the mere fact that the Xbox One is now 2 years old, and has already seen 2 FIFA titles....

FIFA 16 is just a lazy update of FIFA 15. To be honest I see no real attempt to harvest the wealth of new power that the Xbox One gives them. Instead it's another mediocre showing of updated football squads, leagues and player photographs! When the pre-release trailer was aired, it was done so with all the pomp and self glorification of Mr Sepp himself.

"Look, Women's International Football, they're in the game!" it bleated.

Yes they are in the game, and rightly so as Women's professional football has moved on leaps and bounds in it's own right. But exactly where in the game? They are on a tab on the FIFA 16 home screen that potentially isolates them from the rest of the main footballing options. However, that's not really my gripe here, I just felt EA could have done so much more.

Where are the 22 player online drop in matches? Why are they only 5 a side? Why are you restricted to two EA All-star clubs? Why are there blatant game bugs such as the brightness changing to really high levels after goals or corners etc are taken? There also must be an easier way to invite everyone in to a lobby when playing Pro Clubs?

Yes, bugs can be fixed, but does no one see that in game testing? Let's face it, it's not as if EA re-wrote the gaming engine is it? Oh, maybe there's a thought EA?? One I'll leave you with...

Buy it people, but only for the upgraded squads and photographs!  A pathetic 5/10
