Ok, Ok, I know I'm a little late with a review on this one.....
In all honesty, I overlooked it on the back of a friends recommendation. Who needs friends like that? Friends that give you the wrong time for a meet up, the wrong phone number from that person you fancy and tell you how bad something so good is!!
Titanfall was one of the main titles announced with the Xbox One and launched back in March 2014. Made by Respawn Entertainment and released by EA, it's far from a latest title, but please don't be deterred by that. In fact the price now should make it all the more appealing. Brand New £18, Pre-owned £10, Xbox Store £6 (deluxe issue).
If that price doesn't grab you, the fact that all the map packs for TitanFall are now free, should.
If you're a seasoned pro of shoot'em up's such as COD, Destiny and Halo, then you'll love the intense pace of this fantastic game. Once you've installed you're taken through a quick training simulator, to get you up to speed on the controls. Don't worry the gameplay is really easy to get to grips with. The more you progress, the more you unlock and are able to equip to your load outs.
You have two load outs, one for your pilot and the other for your mechanical beast the Titan. You spawn into the play on foot in 6 versus 6 combat. It takes 2 minutes until you can call in your Titan, to which your greeted with "Titan Fall inbound!". Make the most of its power as once destroyed, it's another 2 minute wait.
The bizarre part of the whole game is even the campaign is played out in a player versus player format. It plays with the usual cut scene animations to tell the story, but it feels very much like there's no real story and the outcome of victory or defeat on any map doesn't change the story line. However, it's still a great game with wall running, jump boosts, Titans, rockets, guns, explosions and break neck speed action!
Worth adding to your Christmas stocking - a great 8/10
Xbox Xblog, what you see is what you get! A good dose of Xbox blogging - Whats happening in the World of Xbox , to whats happening in the World. It's a World of pain, a World of gain, but always a World of Microsoft's Xbox Gaming. Oh, and other nonsense now and again! :)
